About Jessica the Proofreader
I started working in the publishing industry in 2002, as a secretary at Market House Books in Buckinghamshire. This was where I first learned how to proofread, having always had a natural aptitude for spotting punctuation errors and spelling mistakes while reading.
I began working as a freelance professional proofreader in 2006, working mostly on fiction. My client base has since grown to include major UK publishing houses and their imprints, large companies, charitable organisations, and small businesses. I also proofread manuscripts directly for authors, both published and pre-published.
In my spare time, I enjoy walking my two Welsh Corgis with my family, reading (yes, always!), dreaming of future short breaks, window-shopping, and wondering how the farm I created on Stardew Valley during the pandemic is faring. I am also a regular reviewer for NetGalley.
